IoT prototype became easier with new Rohm sensor kit

Rohm announced 2 sensor evaluation kit, "SensorMedal-EVK-002" and "SensorShield-EVK-003".
There are several IoT evaluation boards in the market, however, this new kit from Rohm has some advantages compared with others.
They are targeting the applications like:
    Activity monitor
    Pedometer
    Metal detection/Switch
Environmental measurement (pressure, ambient light, temperature, humidity)
    Magnetic compass
    and others

Let's take a look at the features.

SensorMedal-EVK-002
SensorMedal kit is complete module with Bluetooth module.
I would say this is more reference design* for people who want to quickly design small form factor IoT device.
*It does not seems like schematic/layout is not available as of Nov 2018

Features:
  • Bluetooth module (Lapis: MK71251-01)
  • 16 bit low power microcontroller (Lapis: ML620Q504H)
  • Coil cell battery operated (CR2450)
  • 6 sensors Accelerometer (Kionix: KX126-1063)
              Geomagnetic (Rohm: GM1422AGMV)
              Pressure (Rohm: BM1383AGLV)
              Ambient light (Rohm: BH1721FVC)
              Temperature/Humidity (Sensirion: SHT31)
              Magnetic (Rohm: BU52072GWZ)
  • Small size: 68.1mm x 39mm x 7.4mm
  • Data rate: 1000ms fixed
  • Low power: a few months operation with CR2450 coin cell battery

They have iOS app called "RHRawDataMedal2" for the quick evaluation, and you can download the app from the app store.
You can refer to the Japanese site here.
Manuals are available here.

SensorShield-EVK-003
SensorShield kit is more flexible design and the main board has several IOs to support external modules.
According to their website, this kit can work with Arduino, Lazurite, and other mbed boards.
Compared with the SensorMedal kit, I would say this is for the developers who want to customize the design.

Features:
  • IO shield designed for Arduino and Lazurite
  • Power supply switch (1.8V, 3.0V, or 5.0V)
  • Analog I/F (4 pins)
  • GPIO I/F (2 pins)
  • I2C I/F (1 ch + 5 INT pins)

Available sensor modules:
  • Accelerometer (Kionix: KX224-1053)
  • Pressure (Rohm: BM1383AGLV)
  • Geomagnetic (Rohm: BM1422AGMV)
  • Ambient light/proximity (Rohm: RPR-0521RS)
  • Color (Rohm: BH1749NUC)
  • Magnetic (Rohm: BD7411G)
  • Temperature (Rohm: BD1020HFV)
  • Heart rate (Rohm: BH1790GLC/BH1792GLC)

Sensor module pins on the shield board have power and ground pins, so you can add any custom sensor boards if you want.
I believe that the sensor module header pins are 2.54mm pitch and there are 5 I2C headers available.
You can refer to the Japanese site here.
Manuals are available here.

You can purchase the kit from Japanese online stores  below and they can probably accept international shipping.
